A Vaishnava seat of the Ramanandi order founded by the Dogra Brahmin saint Bhagwanji, counted among the fifty-two dvaras of the subcontinent and controlling thirty-nine branch maths from Jammu to Chennai. It drew patronage under Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and its Baisakhi fair on the first three days of Vaisakha brings processions, Navgraha puja, ritual bathing and charitable distribution.
The second mahant, Narainji, is said to have survived an attempt by Emperor Jahangir to poison him, after which the emperor accepted him.
