पाओन्ता साहिब

A gurdwara on the bank of the Yamuna founded by Guru Gobind Singh in 1685, where he stayed some four and a half years, longer than anywhere else, and composed a large body of writing. It is also the birthplace of his eldest son, Sahibzada Ajit Singh.
The name comes from paon, foot, and tika, became stable, recalling that the Guru's horse halted at this spot.
