History & significance

An 8th-century Shaiva shrine of the Bhaumakara period standing on the south-western embankment of Bindusagar tank in the old temple quarter of Bhubaneswar. Locally called the Big Shiva temple, it rises about 18 m and carries a Mahishamardini image among its sculpture.
