An old goddess temple in Patna City, revered as a Shakti Peetha and known in two shrines, Bari and Chhoti Patan Devi. Fragmentary remains point to a temple here between the 9th and 11th centuries, while the Chhoti Patan Devi's present form is placed in the 16th or 17th century and the Bari Patan Devi was founded by Badrinath Chaudhary in the British period.
The Shakti Peetha legend holds that the right thigh of Sati fell at this spot when Vishnu cut her body with his Sudarshan Chakra.
