Tirumangalam, Madurai district, Tamil Nadu · 9.8100°, 77.9800°
Founded from 1852 by the Nadar community of Tirumangalam, who had been barred from existing temples, and first consecrated in 1857. Its associated PKN Vidhyasala trust has run schools in Madurai district since 1908.
The town's name Tirumangalam is traced to a belief that the mangalyam for the goddess Meenakshi, or for Murugan's wedding, was made there.
