A Kerala-style Shiva temple at Guruvayur with a double-storeyed tile-roofed sanctum; it lay under the Zamorin of Calicut and was wrecked during Tipu Sultan's 18th-century campaign, and excavation at the site has recovered two cannons from the defence mounted by the Zamorin's forces.

Folklore holds that the sage Parashurama installed the Shiva idol here in the Treta Yuga.
