A cluster of Shiva shrines near the sea about eleven miles east of Dwarka, built between the 7th and 10th centuries under Saindhava rule, with the phamsana-roofed temples placed in the middle of the 8th century. They mix the neo-Dravidic Maitraka manner with Nagara and early Maha-Gurjara forms.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Local people connect the monuments with the sage Durvasa and call the site Durvasa Rishi Ashram.
