A cluster of shrines on the Penna in Kadapa district, largely Shaiva and headed by the Vaidyanatheswara temple, whose core goes back to about the seventh century. Rashtrakuta, Kakatiya and Vijayanagara rulers all endowed it, and its inscriptions span several centuries.
Garuda is said to have spilled a drop of amrita into the lake here while freeing his mother, and the mound of flowers left by Rama's worship is held to have given Pushpagiri its name.
