An Ayyappa temple on Santhome High Road in Chennai, founded in 1981 and consecrated in 1982 by the industrialist M. A. M. Ramaswamy Chettiar of the Chettinad group on land given by Rajah Sir Muthiah Chettiar, and built as a close copy of the Sabarimala shrine after his 1973 pilgrimage there. Its panchaloha image of Ayyappa, made by the sculptor Bhattanachariar, was installed on 25 January 1982.
