A Shiva temple built between about 760 and 973 CE, when Vemulawada was the capital of the Chalukyas of Vemulawada, who ruled across what is now Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra. It is widely called Dakshina Kashi, the Kashi of the south.
