Nirala Nagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh · 26.8742°, 80.9400°
The Lucknow centre of the Ramakrishna Mission, opened on 2 February 1987 on 4.86 acres granted by Chandrabhanu Gupta, the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Its shrine holds images of Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi and Vivekananda, and its design blends several Indian and European idioms.
During a period of communal tension devotees hurriedly raised a small Shiva shrine on the grounds, which came to be regarded as a remover of obstacles.
