A Kali temple about 35 km from Kolkata founded more than three centuries ago by the Nandy family of Rampara and rebuilt in the early 20th century, reportedly by artisans who had worked on the Victoria Memorial. The complex holds the Kali and Panchanan sanctum, a separate Jagannath temple, an assembly hall, a pond and a ceremonial rath.
