A goddess shrine near Jadugora whose object of worship is a stone taken to be Rankini herself; the present building was put up between 1947 and 1950 after Dinbandhu Singh began the worship, and a family trust has run it since 1954. Originally a Bhumij tribal cult, it saw human sacrifice until the British stopped the practice around 1865.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
The goddess is said to have taken the form of a girl fleeing a shepherd who hid in a washerman's bundle of clothes at Kapadgadi Ghat, whereupon the pile of cloth turned to stone.
