The third-oldest monastery in Sikkim, founded in 1730 by the Ngadakpa Lama above the twin villages of Rinchenpong and Kaluk at over 1,700 m, and begun with some ninety-eight lamas. It is a training centre for monks and keeps a rare image of the primordial Adi-Buddha in the Yab-Yum posture, in whose sanctum photography is now barred; the nearby Poison Pokhri lake is remembered as a symbol of resistance to foreign invasion.
