History & significance

A Buddhist temple about a kilometre northeast of the royal palace at Mrauk U, commissioned in 1629 by King Thiri Thudhamma Raza; its stupa is laid out on an eight-petalled lotus plan and turns from an octagonal form to a bell above nine rising tiers.
