A shrine to the seven mother goddesses on the south bank of the Baitarani at Jajpur, beside the Dashaswamedha Ghat and the Budha Ganesha temple, whose images are dated to the 11th century and connected with the Ashvamedha of Yayati Keshari. Long derelict, it was restored by the Archaeological Survey of India, and the goddesses are treated as attendants of Viraja.
The seven are said to have issued from the body of Durga as she fought the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha, each embodying the will of the god whose name she bears.
