A gurdwara in the Shahidganj area of Lahore commemorating Bhai Taru Singh, executed in 1745 by the Mughal governor Zakariya Khan for refusing to renounce his faith. The shrine was built in 1747–48, in the years when the Sikh misls were taking control of the city.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Sikh accounts relate that after ordering Bhai Taru Singh's scalp cut away, Zakariya Khan was struck by unbearable pain and could not pass urine, and found relief only when he had himself struck with the martyr's shoes — dying twenty-two days later all the same.
