A goddess temple on the summit of Shali Tibba at about 2,862 m, some 36 km from Shimla and reached by a seven-kilometre walk through deodar and pine. The present timber-and-stone Kath Kuni building was renovated in the early twentieth century by Raja Rana Bhupinder Singh of Bushahr, and Navratri is its chief occasion.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Local tradition says the goddess appeared in a dream and asked to be moved to the highest peak nearby so that her blessing would reach the whole region.
