History & significance

Raised by King Shankaravarman of the Utpala dynasty at Pattan, about 27 km from Srinagar, with deeply carved facades and pedimented entrance columns. It is now ruinous and no longer in worship, and stands beside the smaller Sugandhesha temple that Shankaravarman built for his queen.
