A teak monastery in Mandalay created in 1878, when King Thibaw Min had his father King Mindon's former royal apartment taken down and re-erected outside the palace as a memorial. It is the only major original structure of the Mandalay royal palace still standing.
Thibaw is said to have moved the building because he believed it haunted by his father's spirit; he used it for meditation, and the couch on which he sat is still shown there.
