A 55-metre reclining Buddha west of Bago, traditionally credited to King Migadippa in 994 CE and reckoned the largest Buddha image in pre-colonial Southeast Asia. Twice abandoned to the jungle, it was rediscovered by British railway workers in 1881 and sheltered under an iron pavilion in 1906.
