A Shakta temple in north-eastern Kalna near the Bhagirathi-Hooghly, built in 1740 by Chitrasen Roy, a zamindar of Burdwan, and regarded as a fine example of jor-bangla architecture; five 18th-century Shiva temples stand in the same compound and the image of the goddess, about five feet tall, is carved from neem wood.
