History & significance

A modern Murugan temple in suburban Chennai consecrated on 24 June 1999 by Swami Santhananda, who died before it was finished. It is said to be the first temple in India dedicated to the goddess Ugraprathyankira Devi and holds a 9.5-foot Sahasralingam carved with 1,007 lingams.
