History & significance

One of Singapore's oldest Hindu temples, raised by early Tamil settlers on land bought in 1851 and finished in 1855; first known as Sri Narasimha Perumal Temple, it gained its five-tier gopuram in 1966 through the gift of the migrant merchant P. Govindasamy Pillai and was gazetted a national monument in 1978.
