History & significance

A 66-metre seated figure of the philosopher Ramanuja at Muchintal on the edge of Hyderabad, built by the Chinna Jeeyar Trust for his thousandth birth anniversary and inaugurated in February 2022. Cast in 700 tonnes of panchaloha and assembled from some 1,600 shipped pieces, it is among the tallest sitting statues in the world and was laid out according to Agama and Shilpa Shastra.
