A Balinese Hindu water temple near Tampaksiring founded about 962 under the Warmadewa dynasty and dedicated to Vishnu, built around a sacred spring that is the source of the Pakerisan river. The precinct divides into three sections, with purification pools fed by some thirty spouts where pilgrims still perform the melukat bathing rite. A villa was built on the hill overlooking the temple for President Sukarno's visit in 1954.
