History & significance

The principal temple of Umiya, clan deity of the Kadava Patidars, at Unjha in Mehsana district; it marked its silver jubilee in November 2009 with Chief Minister Narendra Modi in attendance. The shrine is a fixture for politicians seeking Kadava Patidar support, and the community has founded related Umiya Mata temples abroad, including one at Macon, Georgia in 2013.
