History & significance

Delhi's Malai Mandir at R. K. Puram, whose foundation stone was laid on 8 September 1965 by M. Bhakthavatsalam with Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri presiding; the main temple was consecrated on 7 June 1973. Further mahakumbhabhishekams followed in 1990, 1995 and 2001, and the Adi Sankara Hall opened on 9 November 1997.
