A hill temple at Narthamalai combining rock-cut and structural Dravida work, raised in 862 CE by Sattan Paliyili, a lieutenant of the Muttaraiyar chiefs who held the region as Pallava feudatories. Damaged by rain and lightning, it was restored under Tennavan Tamiladirayan and is now an Archaeological Survey of India protected monument.
