History & significance
One of the oldest and most important pagodas in Phnom Penh, founded as Wat Khpob Ta Yang by King Ponhea Yat in 1442 and renamed Wat Botum Vatey Reachvararam, the temple fenced with lotus, when King Norodom rebuilt and enlarged it in 1865. Its 33 m quadrangular main stupa, flanked by four 6 m corner stupas, holds Buddha relics presented from Sri Lanka in 1887.
