A leading royal temple of Chiang Mai, founded in 1345 by Phayu, fifth king of Lan Na, and named for the Phra Buddha Sihing image brought there in 1400. Its Viharn Lai Kham was built between 1815 and 1821, and it was granted royal temple status in 1935.
