History & significance

A hilltop Narasimha shrine about 65 km from Hyderabad where the god is worshipped as Jvala, Gandabherunda, Yogananda, Ugra and Lakshmi Narasimha. Long a regional pilgrimage centre supported even by the seventh Nizam, it was demolished and rebuilt entirely in stone between 2016 and 2022 on Agama and shilpa principles.

Sthala katha — the legend

The Skanda Purana relates that Yada, son of the sage Rishyasringa, did penance on this hill and Narasimha appeared to him in five forms.
