History & significance

A Shiva temple at Balgudar whose worship the article traces to Narayan Pal in the 8th century and whose temple is credited to King Indradyumna in the 12th. A giant lingam was unearthed at the site on 7 April 1977 by two boys, Ashok and Gajanand, at play; the Shankaracharya of Puri inaugurated the rebuilding on 11 February 1993 and the present complex was begun on 15 November 2002.
