Delhi's largest gurdwara, built around the bungalow of Raja Jai Singh where the eighth Guru, Har Krishan, stayed in 1664 and tended the city's sick. Sardar Baghel Singh converted the site into a shrine in 1783 as one of nine Sikh shrines he raised in Delhi, and most of the present structure dates from after 1947; its sarovar measures about 225 by 235 feet.
Devotees hold that the water of the temple's sarovar, sanctified during Guru Har Krishan's stay, carries healing power.
