A Shakta temple in Mymensingh city said to be about three centuries old, founded by Tantric practitioners during the reign of Nawab Alivardi Khan. Its black stone image of Kali was replaced by a new one during a renovation completed in 2026.

Temple lore says a fisherman drew a black stone image of Kali from the Brahmaputra in his net and cried out 'Joy Kali!', giving the goddess her name; Tantrics then consecrated the image beneath an old banyan tree.
