The foremost Ganesh shrine of the Chobhar area south of Kathmandu, first raised in Nepal Sambat 723 by the Malla king Shiva Singh; Sri Nivas Malla of Patan added its finial in 789 NS and Rajya Prakash Malla of Kathmandu rebuilt the present pagoda in 871 NS.
