A small Pallava-period Shiva shrine in Kanchipuram, attributed to Narasimhavarman II, though some scholars place it instead in the reign of the Chola king Kulottunga III. Its name means 'remover of fever', and the deity is invoked against sickness.
The legend holds that Shiva opened his third eye and the fire that issued from it struck the devas with fever, and that they were cured by praying to him and bathing in the waters of this place.
