History & significance

Thane's principal Shiva temple, founded under the Shilahara dynasty and rebuilt in 1760 with further renovations in 1879 and 1996. Its lingam, about 12 feet across, is among the largest in Maharashtra, and Shiva here is treated as the patron deity of the city.
