History & significance

A rock-cut cave shrine at Mandagapattu in Viluppuram district, excavated for Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu and attributed to the Pallava king Mahendravarman I. It is the oldest stone shrine in Tamil Nadu to have been discovered and securely dated.
