Built in 1655 by Deldan Namgyal in memory of his father Sengge Namgyal, at Shey, which had been the summer capital of Ladakh. Its twelve-metre copper Shakyamuni, gilded with some five kilograms of gold, is the second largest such image in Ladakh.
