A rock temple at Kudumiyanmalai near Pudukkottai carrying inscriptions of the Pallava king Mahendravarman, among them a celebrated treatise on music. Its later complex includes a thousand-pillared hall and mandapas carved as chariots drawn by elephants and horses.
