History & significance

A Pallava shrine built by Narasimhavarman II on a hillock above the Panamalai lake, its three-tiered vimana closely echoing the Kailasanatha temple, with squatting-lion pillars typical of the dynasty. Its painted panel of the dancing Shiva is among the earliest known representations of Nataraja.
