A Mariamman temple on the banks of the Vaigai about 3 km from the Meenakshi Amman Temple, raised under the Madurai Nayaks. Its large tank, the Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam, is fed by underground channels from the river and hosts the float festival on Thaipusam.
