A Shiva temple on the Kaveri whose origins go back to the era of Kulottunga Chola I, with the present Dravidian complex - gopura and pillared mukhamantapa - endowed by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar III according to B. Lewis Rice. It is now a protected monument of the Archaeological Survey of India.
