History & significance

One of the 108 Durga temples of Kerala, standing at Ayyanthole in Thrissur city and administered by the Cochin Devaswom Board. It is among the temples that take part in the annual Thrissur Pooram.

Sthala katha — the legend

The goddess is identified with the child of Yashoda who was carried to Mathura in Krishna's place, and who wounded Kamsa's shoulder as he tried to kill her before revealing herself and foretelling his death.
