A Devi temple at Thiruthiyad in Kozhikode, known as Arikkodikkavu until it was renamed Azhakodi in 1965, and now run by the Malabar Devaswom Board. Its priests are said to have hidden the image in the temple tank during Tipu Sultan's invasion.
The Zamorin is said to have entrusted six of his generals to the shrine along with an image of Bhavani Devi obtained from Gujarati traders, directing them to install it beside the Bhagavathi in the sreekovil.
