A Vishnu temple at the entrance to Alagar Koil in Madurai district, where the principal image shows the god seated in meditation flanked by Nara and Narayana. It is modelled on the Badrinath temple of Uttarakhand and keeps daily rituals with monthly devotional singing.
By legend Kallalagar halts here on the eve of the Chittirai festival as he travels from Alagar Koil, and so misses his sister's wedding at Vandiyur.
