A seventeenth-century pagoda at Thimi in Bhaktapur District dedicated to the goddess Balkumari and counted among the four Kumari temples of the Kathmandu Valley; a Bhairab shrine stands in the same courtyard, and the Sindoor Jatra is celebrated here at Nepali New Year.

A merchant of Thimi is said to have won a princess of Lubhu who would come with him only if the goddess Balkumari came too, and so the goddess moved from Lubhu to Thimi.
