A Shiva temple in dense forest about 37 km from Pune, built in 1749 by the Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao at a recorded cost of 11,426 rupees, 8 annas and 6 paise. It holds a Portuguese bell of 1683 taken after the Battle of Bassein in 1739, one of several such bells distributed to Maratha temples, and its name joins ban, forest, to Ishwar.
