History & significance

Built in 1784 by Sawai Madhavrao Peshwa on an island in the lake laid out below Parvati Hill, this Ganesha temple is one of Pune's busiest shrines, with roughly 10,000 visitors a day rising to 80,000 at Ganesh Chaturthi.
